Family Party Manukau East candidate Papali’i Tuifaasisina Poutoa PAPALI’I will launch his campaign for the Manukau electorate out of the heart of Otara today.
Relatives in support of Mr Papali’i include rugby icon Peter Fatialofa and Laughing Samoan’s frontman, Tofiga Fepulea’i.
Family Party leader Richard Lewis says Mr Papali'i represents four generations of Pacific people who arrived in Otara in the 1960’s and have traditionally supported Labour until now. He says Mr Papali’i’s decision to stand signals a new day for Pacific political leadership in South Auckland.
“We’re really excited about Mr Papali’i’s prospects over the next seven weeks. His passion for the electorate is self evident and I really believe he will inspire the kind of change that many who are fed up and disillusioned with Labour, are looking for,” Mr Lewis added.
The campaign launch will take place at 11am at the Otara Recreation (Leisure) Centre at the Otara Markets, Bairds Rd.
