Defence
The Family Party believes a fundamental role of Government is to secure our borders from external and internal threats through an effective and sufficiently resourced defence force. Defence capabilities have become more important with the advent of global terrorism. As a small and isolated nation, we rely heavily on defence allegiances with our traditional allies, especially Australia, the US and Britain.
Housing
The Family Party believes that quality, affordable housing should be within reach of all New Zealanders. The health of families has clearly been shown to have a direct link to the quality of their living circumstances and having a genuine stakehold in the local community.
Broadcasting Standards
Without question, New Zealand has experienced a marked decline in standards of responsible broadcasting on television, movies, music and mainstream media. The Family Party believes this decline has had a direct bearing on trends pertaining to violence, crime and anti-social behaviour in the home and community, particularly amongst children and young people. Responsible censorship is about protecting families (and children) from the harmful effects of certain types of material.
